Teamwork Meeting 03 Oct 2014

This morning, 03 October 2014, I had a meeting with my teamwork to discuss about work progresses and new strategies.

I gave them some advices as follow:

"To do a business is like taking care of  your flowers. If you don't water it then It's going to die soon, if you water it everyday then It will grow up more faster but if it grows up only leaves and stems without having fruitage it is still useless. To water it to expect for fruitage if no fruitage then watering it for what!

I take care of businesses in our Company is like watering flowers. I have to follow up, move it forward to the market successfully which customers can know and understand about it clearly. Particularly they can use it usefully, and after they can use it happily & confidently then we will get more benefits and revenues from them.

What I think at the first it is our customers, secondly I think of my employees and thirdly I take care of investors & shareholders, a whole company's business that I'm managing."

Best Regard,
Chan Han

Here are some step-by-step instructions on how to compile iTextSharp for use in a partially-trusted-caller environment such as that found on GoDaddy hosted servers.

Step 1. Download the source.
The source code is available here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/itextsharp/files/itextsharp/iTextSharp-5.0.6/
As of this writing, the current version available is 5.0.6. Newer source should always be available at this site.

Three Things Make Company Changes And Growth

I've been as a team leader for several years already. The people work under my leadership and management they always get happy and get the motivation. They work very committed and follow the project schedule that I put for them.

The successful company, that doesn't mean we depend on we've got powerful man or we're a billionaire or we are the richest in the world but it exactly depends on the people around us how to make the people our employees have the real commitment in the company and how to motivate them.

There are three things I'd always like to stick in my mind to lead my teamwork:

1. Make a "Love"
I  always love my employees, my developers team and all in the company, we work together we have to believe each other because we have only one way to go and accomplish the only one vision for the company so we need to make more "Love" to everyone.

2. Make a "Like"
I always like every ideas proposed by my employees I like their innovation, their good faith, creative and commitment. I always accept their experiences and explanation because we are a team we need to adapt each other, support ideas each other. Sometime the leader's ideas are not correct all the time, there are some wrong and some right. So I like everyone's comment, idea and shares. Employees like to stay very comfortable and open.

3. And "Care"
I care of my employees especially their health, so we need to make sure our company environment is staying very healthy and comfortable. I care of their works, codes and problem so when I care of them I will understand their work much and much then I can manage, resolve and help them on time.

Employees need our care, employees need freedom so that the leader must have a kind of democratic leadership in their self and open mind to everyone in the company so that is to make them more confident and they will never scare of us anymore otherwise they will care of us back, exactly.

Thanks,

Entrepreneur And e-Commerce

Entrepreneurs need to keep the vision going successfully.

Below are some of Jack Ma's speech about his experiences with Alibaba.

Interview with Jack Ma:

"1. On that time I worked for three months I can buy a bicycle. But today money is not the thing such interested."

"2. Doing business at everywhere is difficult not only in China, every thousand companies died every month or every week in China."

"3. No internet company is successful in the USA yet we're not starting yet we'll face some challenges in the future."

"4. First, I don't like talking about the competition because I think the competition is the far part of the business, I think as the business leader always focus on myself on the customers and my team then if i have time then think about the competitors. We just try to make sure Alibaba is the infrastructure of China's e-commerce."

"5. we started it from 18 people until 22000 employees now within two years, so it is very fast growing and we're from one company that focus on B2B help small medium size company in import/export and that company listed in Hong Kong. And second company is Taobao.com, people say Taobao is like eBay, no no Taobao and eBay totally are different. We focus on small B2C that's not C2C and third company is Alipay, third-party online payment. People say Alipay is like Paypal, No!!! It is different ."

My Mother Taught Me How To Read & Write

When I was in grade 2 and 3, I was not be able to read and write character well at all.

My life and every things I have today because of my mother, she gave me all of every things, knowledge, advices, and motivation.

When I was 8-9 years old, she taught me how to read and write every evening around 6pm to 7pam (one hour per day) after dinner.

She was not lazy to spend her time with me at all, one hour in every evening she stood behind and told me when I read some word wrongly. Sometime she hit me when I cannot remember the words correctly, the tear was falling down a little but I committed to understand what she tried to teach me.

After 1 year later, I can write and read very well. I can read book and write letter. To see that my mother was so happy because she expected that I can learn other thing by myself later on.

Now I can do every things by myself, I create something new and different to reach successful in my life. I do hope that my mother still stand next to me all the time to look at my success and achievement.

Mother!!! all of these achievement are yours, if without  you I will get nothing till today.

Mother!!! You born me, you looked after me and you also taught me. Finally you cannot wait to see what I've got successful for you. :'(

Install the Flash plugin in Linux (ubuntu) to view videos, animations and games

Adobe Flash Player is a plugin that allows browsers such as Firefox to display Flash media on web pages. Flash is often used for animations, videos and games. This article explains how to install Flash.

Installing the Flash plugin manually

  1. Go to the Flash Player download page at Adobe.com.
  2. When prompted, save the file (i.e. install_flash_player_"version"_linux."processor".tar.gz).
  3. At the top of the Firefox window, click on the File menu and select Quit
  4. Open a Terminal window (in Gnome, click on the Applications menu, select Accessories, and then select Terminal.)
  5. In the Terminal window, change to the directory where you saved the file you downloaded (e.g. cd /home/user/Downloads).
  6. Extract libflashplayer.so from the file you downloaded with the command tar -zxvf install_flash_player_"version"_linux."processor".tar.gz.
  7. As the super user, copy the extracted file, libflashplayer.so, to your Firefox installation directory's plugins sub-directory. For example, if Firefox is installed in /usr/lib/mozilla, use the command sudo cp libflashplayer.so /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins and then enter your super user password when prompted.

Uploading directly to Amazon S3 from a Rails application

The use cases for Superhug are heavy on uploading and downloading large(ish) files. Rails itself isn’t so well suited to this sort of task, and it’s best to keep state away from application servers wherever possible. We chose to use Amazon S3 and CloudFront to bypass Rails for all of the uploading, downloading and image processing grunt work. This is a rundown of the approach we took.

Managing Assets on Amazon CloudFront

Martin Streicher provides a practical example of how to use Amazon CloudFront and Amazon S3 to manage files for a sample Rails application.

If your web site is flourishing, you've probably realized that success is both a blessing and a curse. On the one hand, a growing audience and increased traffic furthers your goal—be it communication, commerce, or community. On the other hand, the additional page views and the incumbent demands on bandwidth, processor cycles, and storage may seem daunting. Ironically, mushrooming traffic can torpedo a burgeoning site.

But before you run off to lease more bandwidth or purchase additional rack-mount servers, consider delegating some of the busy work your servers currently contend with to Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) and the Amazon CloudFront content-delivery network. In particular, Amazon S3 and Amazon CloudFront can unburden your servers from the chore of serving static content. Delivering assets from a specialized network reserves compute power for computation.

Improving Page Speed with Amazon Web Services - A Beginner's Guide

After the fantastic tips in edbaxter's post on Optimizing Page Speed, I decided it was time for a beginner's guide on one of the most effective methods to increase speed that was only mentioned in that post: a Content Delivery Network (CDN). The purpose of a CDN is to put your website's static or unchanging files on very fast servers all over the world, so that requests to view the content by visitors to your site have the shorter possible trip to get your data. An example of these static files are images, css, and javascript files.

Think about it like a bowl of candy in your kitchen. When you want a piece of candy, you have to make the trip from somewhere in your home to the kitchen, and that may take longer than you would like. You can instead put multiple bowls of that same candy in every room of your home. This would make the trip to receive the candy much faster, though it would do nothing for your waistline.

This post will specifically concentrate on using two services that are under the label of Amazon Web Services (AWS): Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon CloudFront. CloudFront is the CDN, and S3 is a fast location used to store your static files, where CloudFront goes to get the most up-to-date file. While these services do have costs associated, there is a free usage tier which will cover much of the costs of S3. CloudFront costs will vary, but for some perspective, I have a site that has 450,000 pageviews per month, and the costs involved are $3/month. This was $4 last month, but I reduced HTTP Requests by removing unnecessary images, combining files, using sprites, etc.

How to use bitBucket with EGit in Eclipse

Git is becoming more and more popular these days, and when we really use version control systems like Git or SVN, we actually want to share our codes with other developers. Thus, we do need a Git server to host the codes, like www.bitBucket.org, which is a Git server offering free limited use.

To set up a project in Eclipse, and push the project to bitBucket, you need to do the following steps:

How to increase disk space on existing AWS EC2 Linux (Ubuntu) Instance without losing data

Let’s say you have a Linux Amazon Web Services (AWS) EC2 Instance up and running and you start running out of space. I’ll show you how to quickly clone its disk (EBS volume) onto a bigger disk (also EBS), replace the smaller disk with the bigger one and boot off the bigger (new) disk. No need for any third party tools like Acronis or Ghost or even rsync.

Create Snapshot of the original disk:

First thing we’ll do is to create a Snapshot of the original disk so that we can then create a new, bigger volume out of that Snapshot. There are a couple of things we have to note down first: the Instance number and then the volume attached to that Instance. The easiest way to fine the Instance number is in the Instances part of the AWS Management Console. It will start with “i” and be under the “Instance” column. Now navigate to the Volumes section (Elastic Block Store section) and locate the volume that is attached to your Instance. You can see the Instance number under the “Attachment Information” column. The first half of that string will be the Instance number. Please see the images below for an example.
