What are the people doing? Are they making money with own business?
This is the generation of technology, the most of businessman in world they know well about the strategy to get people come to their products either off-line and online the internet ways.

To be a successful businessman, i think that all businessman must know clearly about how to use ICT such as some of communication tools (Chat, forum, blog), and email, Social networking...(Online marketing).

Nowadays we cannot do a business without the internet, it's focusing on instant promotion on the website, contact customers by email, promote your product on blog or discuss and provide solution via forum...etc that's the way to make your own business works. So two ways must go together to push your biz run and get people to know , they are online marketing and offline marketing, both must go together.

In Cambodia, even though it is just getting a peace and they are considered as development country but ICT is very fast going now because of under prime minister HUN SEN's leading, all infrastructure like road development, bridge development, HR development and especial ICT development to make our country go very fast like the other country around us.

Addition to these, we're seeing that each of students they have own Handbook computer or Laptop computer and gathering to discuss, searching , and some learning on the internet via their own stuff. All these show very clear that whoever not only me or you but everybody are trying to push ICT in Cambodia to grow up and better than.

I heard that there are many IT experts in Cambodian is regretting with Mr.Soy Sopheap's words on CTN he said that cambodian's IT knowledge is limited , this word hurt many Cambodian who are in IT domain. There are many blogs against with his and try to tell the solution on the internet.

I am also one of Cambodian and is trying to explore in IT sector, i am also pain with his speech on CTN :(

But now i am trying, studying , analyzing all the best on his website with number of million visitors per day what server should it use to fit with those visitors. (off-line solution, directly to DAP office) I just want to show him that Cambodian's IT is patient, struggle and unlike what he said. Germany's Music at CJCC

On September 4th, 2009 the event of German's music was happening at CJCC, Phnom Penh, Kingdom of Cambodia as they announced on the newspaper this event is free of charge and the ticket must ask for at Meta House.

Iam the one of that event's fan too, i joined it with no seat, was listening by sitting and standing on the floor :(

After the first round was over, some participants went back their home so there were some seat available for me.

Any way it was very romantic and very sweet , My feel mostly fall in it :).

Social Media is Changing the Way of Business

With tools like Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Digg, even century old business practices are becoming non-existent. Investors are losing focus on industry trade shows and franchise publications for new information, and are beginning to turn more to their social networks and blogs. This is also coming in a time where marketing budgets are beginning to be cut. Social networks allow for a company to have a never ending reach to their clientele.

A recent study by the Aberdeen Group stated that companies in 2009 plan on increasing their social media marketing budget by 63 percent. 93 percent of American’s expect companies to have a social media presence and are using social media to participate in conversation to engage with brands as well as reviewing and referring others within their social media networks.

Even large corporations are beginning to experiment with viral marketing tactics. Burger King began a social marketing experiment with Facebook in early 2009. They started a promotion where if you drop 10 Facebook friends, you will receive a free Whopper. Burger King created the application that actually notified the friends that were dropped and in the end, the Whopper sandwich “proved to be stronger than 223,906 friendships.” You can view the statistics at www.WhopperSacrifice.com. Jeff Benjamin, the award-winning creator of Burger King’s online viral campaign, has started a growing trend for online marketing. He has shown that people can effectively market your product for free if you give them the inspiration and tools. How to add a sidebar-top region in Genesis

The Genesis starter theme for Drupal supports 3 different layouts including both sidebars on either the left or right of the main content. In this configuration it can be useful to have a sidebar-top region that spans the width of both sidebars, but sits on top of them. This tutorial shows you how to do this in Genesis.

An example of when you might want to do this would be to display a fixed height banner or contextual ads. Its not good for content that will change in height as it could overflow the div—while the fixed height limitation could be overcome, this tutorial is meant for beginners and is a simple strait forward explanation of how to add new regions in Drupal and how to position the new sidebar-top region using
CSS.

Overview

1. Add a new region to your subthemes .info file.
2. Print the new region in page.tpl.php.
3. Add CSS to position the new region correctly.

For the purposes of this tutorial I am using the genesis-2c layout, which places both sidebars on the right. You will need to make adjustments if you have altered the default width of the sidebars (default is 240px).

1. Add a new region

Open up your subthemes .info file and add the new region. You can call it whatever you want and in the example below I have called it sidebar_top

Note: after you have saved the info file you need to clear the theme registry so the new region will show up on the blocks page. By far the easiest way to do this is by using the Admin Menu module, which has a link to do this included under the Drupal links (the Drupalicon on the left). Otherwise go to Performance settings and clear cache data.

2. Print the new region

Now in page.tpl.php we need to print the new region. The easy way is to just copy/paste one of the existing sidebars and change the variable name and add a new id, or just copy and paste the new sidebar_top code in the snippet shown below. Note that I have used id="sidebar-top".

Place the new region above the other sidebars. It should look like the following code snippet:

3. Add CSS to position everything

So now we have to position the new sidebar-top region so it displays correctly.

1. First we float it left.
2. Then we need to give it some negative margin-left to pull it into position.
3. We need to set a height on it.
4. Finally we need to add margin-top to the other sidebars so they don’t overlap the new sidebar top.

The margin top for the left and right sidebars needs to be more than the height of sidebar-top. For those of you who know Zen and how it positions the primary navigation, this is pretty much the same sort of idea.

Heres the CSS - the screenshots below show the CSS and regions using Firebug. Place the CSS in page.css with the other sidebar styles. You will notice I have added 20px to the margin-top value so there is a horizontal gutter.

Web3.0 is comming...

What exactly is web 3.0? It basically means web browsing with 3D experience. If Web 2.0 is built towards the social side of the online world, web 3.0 is expected to be where the money will be made by the corporations. Although it have existed for quite some time now, but the exposure is for web 3.0 based applications more towards focused groups. This is possible, thanks to the development of faster processors and hi-speed broadband access that keep on coming our way nowadays.

Web 3.0 based applications are expected to be a virtual reality location where consumers can try anything. An example would be the Second Life, where more than 1 million players, including offline merchants participate. I can’t wait to try out my new shirt.

Limon fonts, ABC Zero space, Khmer Unicode, all of khmer fonts on FireFox3.5, Safari, Opera, Chrome

Not only Khmer Unicode can embed on FireFox3.5, Safari, Opera, Chrome... but Limon fonts, ABC Zero Space fonts also can embed on them too for now.

I have experience with it just today since i saw and try with the next generation of CSS , CSS3.

It is very great for Web Masters or Developers.

CSS3 embed font-face

What is CSS, yet alone CSS3?

Very briefly, CSS stands for ‘Cascading Style Sheets’ and is a mark-up language for altering and giving style to a website. The 3, is just to represent the next generation in style sheet language. A version number, if you will.

Why am I writing about CSS3 if it is not yet fully supported?

Because it is fun to learn new things! …and a few people have asked me how to get the rounded corners on their online profiles. I explained how to do this with images or CSS3 and like a snowball rolling down a hill, I am here writing up a few things I’ve been learned along the way and hope that it will this may just help others out too.

CSS3 is not new, it is just the new term that W3C has posted it recently how to make them to load dynamically from server to user agent's computer.

So you can embed your font on FireFox or Safari, Chrome...

Here is a quick ‘CSS3 versus Browser’ outlook:-

1- FireFox (3.0.5 ...some support)

2- Google Chrome (1.0.154.36...some support)

3- Internet Explorer (IE6, IE7, IE8…Not support)

4- Opera (9.6… little support)

5- Safari (3.2.1 on Windows… good support)

So for now we can embed Khmer Unicode on FireFox or Safari...Cheer!!!

Around the river side in Phnom Penh

According to my travel around river side every evening, at least there is an accident per night happened between motor and motor , motor and car crashing.

So we should be slow , step by step when we are driving on the street.

Look around yourself , left and right before you across the way, especially wear helmet to protect you head and put motor glasses to look somebody behind you.

Accident is the frightening things that government is worrying to the people in the city, particularly is teenager, boys and girls in 2009.

Get Bachelor Degree on 5th August 2009

On 5th August is my birthday, meanwhile i will get my bachelor degree at National Institute of Education (NIE) on 5th August too.

It is nearly 3 years long, Build Bright University of Cambodia just aims to celebrate a ceremony to provide Bachelor Degree to the students in stage III on 5th August 2009.

We are the students of BBU very proud and very happy with this meet up because it is the time that we can meet and talk again during we cannot meet each other nearly 3 years ago.

And today 4th August 2009 we are invited by BBU to gather at NIE to get ready some actions before go up to get the certificate from Prime Minister of Cambodia.

Very strange night - very frighten night

On the mid night of July 31 2009, i was sleeping very well after my calling.

At about 2:30AM at night i heard a sound from outside of knocking my rent house's door by unidentified person. They were very quiet they said nothing they did only knocking and kicking very strong to my door for 20 minutes long till my door a little bit broke, that time i was very and very frighten while i was sleeping lonely in the room and i thought they were a thief.

Meanwhile i had called and woke rent house owner come to my house. But when she came then those unidentified person had run away.

Actually they were confusing the house they assumed that my house was his wife's house.
They knocked and kick very strong to the door because he was angry with his wife, his wife said.

Finally they drove the car back again they did not say "sorry" to me at all, dog shit!!!!, they just were walking straight to his wife's room and used the violence to his wife and say loudly at night during people were on the bed very well.

Now i have to repair my door again :(.

Web fonts for open source, a view from Cambodia

World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) has released new version of report about CSS3 show how the font resource load dynamically, that can help user agents to read all contents on WebPages without installing font on their computers.


For English, French, Chinese and many other languages have large speakers; they can recognize the benefit from this method that can keep original layout of contents for user agent to read the webpage. But for the language of small group, there are not in operating system of computer, this report is quite meaningful, an example, for Khmer language in Cambodia.

Many years ago, webmasters in Cambodia were familiar with the term of “TrueDoc” from Bitstream and Embedded OpenType (EOT) from Microsoft, which can help the user agents, read text on website via loading font from server, without font installation in computer, but it doesn’t work with prominent open source web browser as Mozilla Firefox. Especially, EOT fonts work with Microsoft Internet Explorer only.

Now there is a lot of big website in Khmer language from Cambodia and abroad use EOT font, such as http://www.rfa.org/khmer of Radio Free Asia, http://khmer.radioaustralia.net.au/ of ABC Radio Australia, http://www.rfi.fr/ of Radio French International, http://khmer.ka-set.info/ of Ka-set newspaper, etc…

Also a well-known and old website http://www.everyday.com.kh/ which is interested in teenagers in Cambodia, has also provide Khmer email, use EOT based on legacy font which was created in 1990s. It is favorable for user agents who have MS Internet Explorer, but it still creates difficulties for Firefox web browser’s readers.

Web fonts for Firefox and Safari

According to W3C’s recent report post on their website in June 18, 2009, new term was used and described similar to TrueDoc and Embedded OpenType before, is Web fonts and the way to make them load dynamically from server to user agent’s computer, just upload the font server and add CSS code to webpage. Compare to Embedded OpenType from Microsoft, it is easier, because we don’t need any special tool to convert the font for server.
The fonts for upload to server still keep the original extension, example font.ttf, font.oft or font.svg, etc…

To use a downloadable font call Khmer OS:

The user agent will download Khmer OS and use it when rendering text within paragraph elements.

If for some reason the site serving the font is unavailable, the default Time New Roman will be used.
Right now, above CSS works with Firefox and Safari only. We also can add more CSS for Internet Explorer in the same time, after create EOT font by using WEFT of Microsoft.

Three Dimensions of High Performance

To be truly effective you need ability and passion. Some people use the formula:

Performance = Ability * Passion

However, you also need time to dedicate to the work at hand; and so Availability factors in also.
In the volunteer world we often say we are looking for 3 key attributes:

• Talent (Ability in some useful skill)
• Passion (motivation to do it)
• Availability (time to commit to it)

In other words you need to have skills, enthusiasm, and time to dedicate to something in order to be effective. (This also applies to paid work too, but because we get paid for things it is easy to mix-up motivation with payment and forget about considering if we are passionate/motivated about the work.)

Login doesn't "stick" after upgrade to PHP 5.2+

This is a specific problem that affects older versions of Drupal on a server running PHP 5.2 or later. Often it arises when PHP is upgraded (sometimes without your knowing!).

Symptom: You can appear to log in OK, but on the very next page view the system seems to forget that you have just logged in and you revert to being an "anonymous" user.

If you are running Drupal 5.x or later then this specific problem won't affect you, so if you still have trouble staying logged in then check here.

This problem occurs due to the way PHP 5.2+ handles objects in session handlers. It affects all Drupal versions up to Drupal 4.6.10, Drupal 4.7.4 and Drupal 5-beta 1 inclusive.

The best method of fixing this is to upgrade to the latest official release of a supported version of Drupal. Currently (Dec 2008) this means the latest release of either the 5.x or the 6.x series.

For those wishing not to do a full upgrade yet but who need an "instant fix", you can add the following line at the bottom of your settings.php file:

// Temporary fix to login/sessions problem.
// Remove this line when upgrading to 4.6.11, 4.7.11 or 5.x or later.
register_shutdown_function('session_write_close');

You should regard this as a temporary fix only. If you subsequently upgrade your site to a newer version of Drupal you should remove this line from settings.php to prevent potential incompatibility with future versions of Drupal.

The problem is fixed in the 4.6.11 and 4.7.5 releases of Drupal. So another option for 4.6.x and 4.7.x users is to upgrade to the final release of the 4.6.x/4.7.x series - 4.6.11 or 4.7.11, which are available here.

Note that while Drupal 5.0 doesn't exhibit this particular problem with PHP 5.2 it is still not fully compatible with this version of PHP; Drupal 5.1 is fully compatible (but of course doesn't contain the security fixes in the latest 5.x release).

Upgrading Drupal 4.6.x directly to Drupal 6.12

I have upgraded KhmerOS website, using drupal 4.6.x, directly to the latest version Drupal 6.12 successfully.

But the problem is Khmer Unicode is still not displaying yet. I am getting stuck with Khmer Unicode characters , unknown characters like "សូម​ស្វាគមន៍​មក​កានáŸ" :(.

Why could i become a Web Master till today???

I am a student, would like to research on technologies related-domain since i was in Year I at BBU of Cambodia. I am a student, would like considering about how to create a website, how to allow the people see my articles, all these pushed me to ask somebody who have a lot of experience with the website especial my lecturers at school but they seems to me that they didn't tell me clearly about it at all :(. Even though i cannot get a good solution from the others i still have a will to find out those by myself untill i can post one page on Geocitities of Yahoo and 123ASP.com, they are free space for hosting, while i was very happy i tried to create a lot of page with HTML code and design banner with Photoshop it looked great but it was still not professional webpages because it displayed well only opened with IE6 :(. Though i can host my webpages with those free hosting i still didn't understand about what is the Web server, Web Hosting and Domain definition at all. I want to have my own web server and my own domain i didn't know what should i do??? :(

In 2004 i had passed as a Web Master to work with Micro Domain Company, it is working on Articles to earn money by Google Adsense, founder is Mr. Robert Wolfson. Thanks to Mr. Robert that he was always gave a lot of good idea relate with his experiences to me, i like coding and learning new technologies from him. What i got from him is "How to make money on the internet". I just heard and read this article it made me very interested in doing more websites to earn money.

Python: Plone and Zope Content Management System

After a day of works on Plone and Zope, Python Content Management System, i can configure and start its server. It is very easy way to do it.

The first you have to downlaod Plone from www.plone.org and install it on your OS.

Then you will start its server in order to run Plone CMS by:

C:\Program Files\Plone>bin\instance fg

and Enter

Note: Plone run on Port: 8080

Train Joomla CMS to the staff of GARMENT INDUSTRY PRODUCTIVITY CENTER (GIPC)

According to my experiences of using Joomla to build the websites, GIPC stand s for Garment Industry Productivity Center has contacted me to train their staff about Joomla for 2 days.

• 1 days was over since 01/Feb/2009 , Session was working well. (Thanks for GIPC that gave me a lot of greeting)
• 2 day is today 09/Feb/2009, today i have to train Advance session of Joomla to them. Wondering if they can understand or not :( but i hope that it will be going better.
